Maria is the Coordinator for the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change Network, a Climate Adaptation Specialist with NIACS and the Southwest Climate Hub, and a Research Associate at Colorado State University.
Maria helps to facilitate and conduct applied research and program support for the Network, coordinates Network-wide opportunities for collaboration, and assists with the Southwest Hub and NIACS on various climate science communication and adaptation projects. Maria’s work encompasses a variety of written and oral presentations, adaptation workshops and training facilitation, and applied research related to climate change, adaptive silviculture, and forest management. Maria has a B.S. from Michigan State University and an M.S. from both Michigan State University and Colorado State University. She has a research background in fire ecology, studying conifer regeneration, vegetation-type conversion, and avian community response after wildfire.
