NIACS Adaptation Workbook

A climate change tool for land management and conservation. A logical, step-by-step process to help you consider climate change information for your location. The process helps you capture your thinking and align your goals to adaptation actions.

Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science

The Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science (NIACS) develops synthesis products, fosters communication, and pursues science in climate change, carbon science and management, and bioenergy.

Climate Change Response Framework

The Climate Change Response Framework (CCRF) is a collaborative, cross-boundary approach among scientists, managers, and landowners to incorporate climate change considerations into natural resource management. It provides an integrated set of tools, partnerships, and actions to support climate-informed conservation and forest management.

USDA Forest Service Climate Change Tree Atlas

The Climate Change Atlas documents the current and possible future distribution of 134 tree species and 147 bird species in the Eastern United States and gives detailed information on environmental characteristics defining these distributions.

USDA Climate Hubs

USDA's Climate Hubs are a unique collaboration across the department's agencies. They are led by Agricultural Research Service and Forest Service senior Directors located at ten regional locations, with contributions from many other programs including the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, and the Risk Management Agency. The Climate Hubs link USDA research and program agencies in their regional delivery of timely and authoritative tools and information to agricultural producers and professionals.

Climate Change Resource Center

The Climate Change Response Center (CCRC) is a web-based, national resource the connects land managers and decision makers with useable science to address climate change in planning and application.

USDA Forest Service Research & Development

The research and development (R&D) arm of the Forest Service, a component of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, works at the forefront of science to improve the health and use of our Nation's forests and grasslands. The organization consists of seven research stations and 81 experimental forests and ranges. Forest Service R&D interacts with national forests in nine regions and with the agency's State and Private Deputy Area throughout the United States.

Adaptation Partners

Adaptation Partners is led by the USDA Forest Service in collaboration with a diversity of other organizations and stakeholders to inform sustainable management of natural resources, reduce the negative effects of climate change, transition ecosystems to a warmer climate, and help integrate climate change in natural resource management and operations. The partnership pursues four primary objectives: (1) provide climate education for resource management staff and other stakeholders; (2) conduct a climate change vulnerability assessment for multiple resources; (3) develop an adaptation strategy to address climate change sensitivities; and (4) implement climate-informed practices in long-term planning and management.
